Importance of radio


Radio is one of the greatest scientific inventions of modern science. It is an easy means of communication and entertainment. It performs its function without wires or without any connection between the stations. It is a medium which sends messages, song, talk etc through the space with the help of electric waves.


How the system works: The radio works in an excellent way. When a word is uttered, some vibrations are produced in the air. These vibrations are known as sound waves. The uttered sound in the broadcasting station can be heard from all places. But there must have receiving sets. The broadcasting station amplifies the vibrations. The receiving sets catch the sound of broadcast. The produced vibration needs some energy for the productions. Electricity provides this energy. In every receiving set, there is a battery charged with electricity. The valve set requires loud speakers.

Uses: The radio has many uses. It broadcasts different types of programmes. It broadcasts educational programme, quotation of prices for the business man, news, songs for the music lovers, sports ceremony, weather forecast etc. It can make people aware about various diseases, family planning, sanitation etc. The fisher in the sea gets the weather news in advance and return safely. It helps the authority of airport to take the right decision.

Impact on the rural Bangladesh: The radio has a great impact on the rural Bangladesh. It has become a kind of companion medium in Bangladesh. It has broken the wall between the literate and the literate. It plays a vital role in educating the common people. Besides, the villagers can learn a lot listing to a radio.

The radio has brought about a remarkable change inhuman life. It has become a companion to the lonely people and friend to the friendless.
